New 5-Level Format
A new 5-level JLPT format (N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5) replaced the old 4-level JLPT format (Level 1-4) in 2010. A new mid-level test (N3) has been added to bridge the gap between the old Level 2 and Level 3 tests.
